Disciple Making is the heart of Multiply Christian Church.
Our gatherings come directly from the Bible: Acts 2:42-46:
The biblical book of the "ACTS OF THE APOSTLES" (aka "ACTS") is the earliest account of the activities of Christ’s Church. It describes the early Christian community's devotion to fellowship, teaching, prayer, and sharing resources, creating a close-knit community with a sense of awe and generosity. "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teachings, breaking of bread (including the Lord’s Supper), and praying together." They shared their possessions and met each other's needs. This resulted in a community filled with joy and unity.
Devotion to the Apostles' Teaching:
The early Christians actively learned from the apostles, likely about God’s Kingdom through Scripture, Jesus's life, death, and resurrection, and the meaning of Christ’s teachings. Our church teaches classes on basic theology, disciple-making, and listening skills. All are based on God's Word.
Fellowship:
They spent time together, sharing their lives and building strong relationships. Our church provides opportunities for fellowship 7 days a week, including periodic communal meals and opportunities for service to our community.
Breaking of Bread (including the Lord’s Supper):
This likely refers to communal meals, which were a regular part of their gatherings and likely included the Lord's Supper (also known as Communion). Our church regularly gathers for meals and weekly shares in the Lord's Supper (Communion).
Prayer:
They prayed together, seeking God's guidance and provision. One of our ministries is a "Prayer Room." Currently it is open 4 days a week, 4 hours a day. Our goal is to see the prayer room open 24/7 if possible. We also pray at every gathering.
Sharing Resources:
Believers gave of their resources to meet the needs of others and serve the community. Our ministries depend on financial support from our church members, from other churches and individuals, and from revenues generated by businesses and rental properties that we own.
Unity and Joy:
The result of these practices was a community characterized by unity, generosity, and a shared sense of joy. Our church enjoys fellowship and inclusion in our community. We want to help Bartow, and Polk County, FL be a wonderful and joyful place to live, learn, and find favor with God.
Daily Gathering:
They met daily, both at the temple and in homes, further solidifying their community. Our goal as a church is to meet together or in part everyday. Currently we have a "Prayer Room" that is open from 10AM to 2PM, Tuesday-Friday. We also hold meeting throughout the week on evenings and a worship service on Saturday afternoons. Our Motto is: “Make God the priority in your life.” We adopted this with the belief that God wants His people to faithfully pursue His kingdom and His righteousness as their top priority, both personally and corporately every day and in every way they can.
